Fairtrade go bananas

Well, we were back to where it all began. The Wortley Hall , Sheffield on the 27-28 September, 2006 for the stage 2 of the IDC course we started last year.

One of our colleagues, Chris, from the South Wales has been very active in promoting fairtrade. so at the last GFTU International Development Champions Course stage 2, he made us all pose with the Fairtrade bananas.

Champions 2005 round up

On March 3rd at the lovely Beeches Conference Centre in Birmingham, most of the Development Champions 2005 colleagues gather to review the course and exchange ideas about projects and future plans.

It was also an oppotunity for colleagues who had travelled on GFTU/DFID organised trade missions to Egypt and South Africa to share their experiences.

There was a particular moving report from David Bellairs who had visited Egypt earlier in February and colleagues who visited AIDS orhans in South Africa.

Above one of the resource persons tell of his experiences working with AIDS orhans in SA.

About Me

Sheffield, United Kingdom
This blog is about my interest in international development issues especially the digital divide,ICTs, media and governance in Africa, child labour and actualisation of the MDGs. It was a project that started after I attended the GFTU's International Development Champions course in Wortley, South Yorkshire in 2005. I set up the blog as a collaborative portal for all the other participants to publish their works and projects. The aim is to sensitise other UK journalists and trade union members about the international development and globalisation issues and its implications for labour, migration and trade in the UK.
